Current Releases - WHITE WINES
Renato Pinot Gris 2011 (New Zealand only)
A sun-drenched summer allowed us to hand-harvest fully mature grapes. Originating from our famous clay based soils at Kina, this Pinot Gris is richly scented with floral and spice aromas. The palate is full-bodied and textured, displaying aromas of pears, dried apricots and lychees. A lush mouthfeel leads to a long finish. It can be enjhoyed now but will benefit from cellaring for 2-5 years from vintage.
Renato Pinot Gris 2010
A lush concentrated Pinot Gris from an outstanding vintage, made from hand-harvested grapes from Kina’s clay soils. This Pinot Gris is richly scented with floral and spice aromas. The palate has a great texture displaying hints of pears, dried apricots and lychees. A great mouthfeel leads to a long finish. It will benefit from cellaring 3-5 years after vintage.
Renato Sauvignon Blanc 2011 (New Zealand only)
A vibrant Sauvignon Blanc, the grapes were grown on the stony soils of the Waimea Plains. The wine displays vivid fruit flavours, vibrant acidity and mineral texture. Ripe gooseberry, lime and passionfruit flavours are all very prominent with a very good depth. It’s an attractive and mouthfilling wine, fresh and lively, with a finely balanced, dry finish, offering good drinking over the next 2 - 3 years.
Renato Sauvignon Blanc 2010 (Switzerland only)
A vibrant Sauvignon, grapes were grown on the stony soils of the Waimea Plains. The wine displays vivid fruit flavours, vibrant acidity and mineral texture. Lime, grapefruit and gooseberry aromas are all very prominent and well balanced. It’s an attractive and mouth-filling wine with a long dry finish, offering good drinking over the next 2 years.
Renato Chardonnay 2010 (New Zealand only)
Grapes picked by hand at ultimate ripeness (24.2 Bx). After whole-bunch pressing the must was fermented on its indigenous yeast in French barriques (2 years and older) to preserve the delicate fruit flavours. The nose displays aromas of pineapples, apricot and citrus, complemented by toast characters. The palate is mouth-filling, with ripe fruit flavours, fine oak tannins and an appealing acidity providing an excellent structure. Best drinking 2012 - 2014
Renato Chardonnay 2009 (Switzerland only)
Grapes were hand harvested at 23.5 Brix. After whole-bunch pressing the must was fermented on its indigenous yeast in French barriques (25% new). The nose displays aromas of pineapples, white peach and spice. The palate is mouth-filling, with ripe fruit flavours, fine oak tannins and an appealing acidity, which provide an excellent structure. This is a full bodied, yet elegant Chardonnay with great depth of flavour. Drinking well within 2 – 4 years after vintage
CURRENT RELEASES - RED WINES
Renato Pinot Noir 2010
This Pinot Noir was made from low cropped, hand harvested fruit grown mainly on the clay soils of Kina. Small-batch fermentation with wild yeast was followed by ageing in French oak barriques for 10 months. An elegant wine, with aromas of vanilla, charry oak, dark berryfruit and a generous ripeness on the palate, ending in a lovely finish. It will unfold its potential in 12 - 18 months. Best drinking 2 – 5 years from vintage
Renato Pinot Noir 2009 (Switzerland only)
Sehr kleiner Ertrag pro Hektar. Ernte von Hand, Vergärung der ganzen Beeren in kleinen, offenen Tanks mit natürlicher Hefe, 11 Monate Ausbau in erstklassigen Barriques aus französischer Eiche. Rubinrote Farbe, in der Nase ansprechend mit Düften von Waldbeeren. Überzeugend im Gaumen durch seine ausgeprägten Noten von schwarzen Pflaumen und Kirschen, die runden Tannine und gut integrierten Eichenrösttöne. Ein eleganter Pinot Noir mit einem schönem Abgang
Renato Merlot 2009
A superb vintage and low-cropping vines on Kina’s clay soils resulted in an attractive Merlot, which was aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. Ruby red, this wine has attractive characters of plums, dried herbs and mulberries. On the palate well-moderated oak aromas counter-balance elegant, soft fruit tannins. Already attractive to drink, this wine will continue to evolve in bottle during 2011 and be drinking well to 2013.
Renato Merlot Winemaker's Reserve 2008 (Switzerland only)
Dieser vollfruchtige Top Wein, in dunklem rubinrot, hat uns veranlasst einen Reserve Wein abzufüllen. 14 Monate in Barriques aus französicher Eiche ausgebaut und unfiltriert im Juli 09 abgefüllt. In der Nase duftend von schwarzen Kirschen und Cassis, im Gaumen fast überschwenglich, mit erdigen Kräuteraromen, Cigarrentönen, sowie leicht süsslichen Vanilletönen und runden Tanninen. Noch sehr jugendlich, doch langsam geniessbar, wird er seine volle Komplexität erst in 1-2 Jahren entwickeln. Trinkreife 2011 bis 2014
