Current Releases - WHITE WINES

Renato Pinot Gris 2007 (Switzerland only)
Dry style! The grapes of this marvellous vintage were hand picked at 24.8 Brix, gently whole-bunch pressed and the must fermented with Alsatian yeast. The wine displays pungent aromas of baked pears, apricot and dark honey allied with a savoury, textured character due to lees stirring. An off-dry entry, a silken mid-palate texture and great fruit concentration combine to create a mouth filling wine. Enjoy now or cellar carefully for up to 4 years after vintage to further develop spicy and savoury complexities.

Renato Pinot Gris 2008
Off-dry style! The grapes were grown on Kina’s clay soils, hand-harvested at 23 Brix and gently whole-bunch pressed. The wine displays stonefruit and spice aromas and an off-dry palate with a lush, silken texture and attractive phenolics. An attractive Pinot Gris, true varietal, mouthfilling and with a long finish. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 4 years after vintage to further develop spicy and savoury complexities.

Renato Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Skilfully blended by our winemaker, from fruit grown predominantly on the stony soils on the Waimea Plains. The wine shows vivid flavours, vibrant acidity and mineral texture, while passionfruit, grapefruit and nectarine aromas come to the fore A concentrated and attractive wine, displaying subtle aromas and great length. It will offer excellent drinking over the next 3 years.

Renato Chardonnay 2005 (NZ only)
The grapes were hand harvested at 25 Brix. Whole-bunch  pressing, fermentation with wild yeast in French barriques (25% new). The wine has aromas of white peach, spicy pears and vanilla. The mouth-filling palate, with its ripe and concentrated fruit flavours, has hints of lemon complemented by elegant French oak. This is a big wine, yet beautifully balanced by the clean citrus and acid lift. With its excellent length, it will drink well with 3 – 4 years of bottle age.

Renato Chardonnay 2008
Hand harvested grapes were whole-bunch pressing and the must fermented on its indigenous yeast in French barriques (15% new). The nose displays aromas of pineapples, white peach and spice. The palate is mouth-filling, with ripe fruit flavours, fine oak tannins and an appealing acidity, which provides an excellent structure. This is a full bodied, yet elegant Chardonnay with great depth of flavour in a Burgundian style. It will drink well within 2 – 4 years of vintage.

CURRENT RELEASES - RED WINES

Renato Pinot Noir 2007 (Switzerland only)
Weinbereitung im traditionellen Stil. Sehr kleiner Ertrag pro Hektar. Ernte von Hand, Vergärung der ganzen Beeren in kleinen, offenen Tanks mit natürlicher Hefe, dann 11 Monate Ausbau in erstklassigen Barriques aus französischer Eiche. Der fruchtbetonte Wein ist sogleich ansprechend, mit Aromen von roten Waldbeeren und Gewürzen. Er überzeugt im Gaumen durch seine ausgereiften Fruchtnoten, runden Tannine und gut integrierten Eichenrösttöne. Ein konzentrierter und vielschichtiger Pinot Noir mit einem langen Abgang. Ausgesprochenes Trinkvergnügen, wird sich weiter entwickeln bis 2011/12.

Waimea Merlot-Malbec, Signature Vineyard, Nelson 2006 (Switzerland only)

Ausbau in Barriques aus Eichenholz (50% neu). In der Nase wilde Pflaumen und Kräuteraromen vom Waldboden. Weich im Gaumen mit getrockneten Gewürzen, Nelken und Dörrobstaromen, sowie einem Hauch von Tabak. Die Vanilletöne des Eichenholzes sind integriert, mit schönem Abgang. Mit Merlot Trauben aus Kina!
